Ellie Jane Goulding was born in Hereford England on December 30 1986. Her mother Tracey Goulding Summers worked in the supermarket, while the father Arthur Goulding was a member of an undertaker family. Goulding, the second born member of the family has an older sister named Isabel and one younger sister, named Jordan. Alex her younger brother plays on the bass. Alex also is part of a band from Hereford. Her mother inspired her to study the instrument as a young child. At nine, she began learning to play the clarinet. At the age of 14, Goulding began writing lyrics, though she wasn't serious about songwriting until college. Goulding's passion for electronica music began while she was pursuing her degree.
